Chelsea Chandler Biography
Chelsea Chandler is an American meteorologist who currently works for WATN-TV, Local ABC 24 News in Memphis, as a morning meteorologist and timesaver traffic anchor on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and at midday at 11 a.m.
Her ambition was to “make it in Memphis,” and she considers it an honor to serve the community she adores every weekday morning and during inclement weather. She enjoys connecting with our fans on social media and creating her DoodleCast, and her work as a morning meteorologist has been recognized by the Commercial Appeal Memphis Most as “Best TV Weatherperson” and the Memphis Flyer as “Best of Memphis” for multiple years.
Chandler is a native of the Mid-South. Briarcrest Christian High School was her alma mater. She later enrolled at Penn State University and Mississippi State University, although her initial degrees in Psychology and History were earned concurrently from Christian Brothers University, and she is one of just two students to ever obtain a degree in Music.

Chelsea began her career as a traffic anchor in Memphis ten years ago. She was sidelined for a year due to an accident, but the FIFA World Cup led to a call that would transform her life. She began her sports journalism career on sports talk radio. This helped her earn a job with the Phoenix Suns and later ABC’s coverage of the Memphis Grizzlies. She’s done sideline reporting for the Memphis Tigers on ESPN, as well as color analysis for an international tennis match, and even a home renovation show.
In 2012, she was also named Miss Tennessee International. Chelsea is a singer as well. She has been on “The Late Show with Craig Ferguson,” “The Tyra Banks Show,” and “Larry the Cable Guy,” as well as Disneyland, Carnival Cruise Lines, and just about every Opry in the south. She’s also a seasoned equestrian, having won numerous awards. Chandler has also been selected to represent Tennessee at The Congress, the world’s largest quarter horse exhibition.
She has worked as a print model and a commercial actress in the past. She competed for both the Memphis Speed Skating team and the Junior Olympic Figure Skating team. Chelsea was also a magician’s assistant, but don’t ask her how she felt about being slashed in two feels… She’s sworn to secrecy!

Chelsea has become a vocal champion for mental health and suicide awareness and education after the death of her brother in 2011 and her personal problems. She is also enthusiastic about animal rescue and all things Memphis and historical. She spends her free time reading, traveling to sporting events—name a sport, and she undoubtedly adores it—or simply snuggling up with her fur babies and cheering on the Tigers and Grizzlies of her hometown. Oh, and sleeping every now and then.
