Danya Bacchus Biography
Danya Bacchus is a well-known American journalist who currently works as a Correspondent for CBS Newspath in Los Angeles, California. Bacchus earned a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism and mass communication from North Carolina Agriculture and Technology University. She interned at a local station in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, during her senior year.
Danya began her career at WXLV as an assignment editor and producer behind the scenes. Bacchus also worked as a writer for TV One and as a production assistant for BET. Danya worked as a reporter and anchor for NBC in San Diego until joining ABC News in August 2016.
Bacchus worked as a general assignment reporter at WREG in Memphis, Tennessee, before coming to San Diego. She worked as a reporter and anchor at WMDT, a local ABC affiliate in Salisbury, Maryland, before moving to Memphis.
Bacchus joined CBS Newspath as a journalist in 2019. She joined CBS News after three years as a freelance correspondent for ABC News in West Los Angeles, where she covered a variety of national stories, including a hostage standoff at a Trader Joe’s supermarket in Los Angeles, the college admissions scandal, and the case of a California couple who kept their 13 children shackled in their home.
Moreover, Danya finished an eight-month Knight-Wallace Fellowship at the University of Michigan in 2016. The program is named after the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, as well as 60 Minutes contributor late Mike Wallace. Every year, each of the 18 to 20 participants must complete a research project. “Leaderless Movements: The Rise of Digital Activism,” Danyas’ study was titled.
