Delroy Lindo Biography
Delroy Lindo is an English-American actor who is the recipient of such accolades as an NAACP Image Award, a Satellite Award, and nominations for a Drama Desk Award, a Halen Hayes Award, a Tony Award, and two Critics’ Choice Television Awards.
He is famous for roles like West Indian Archie in Malcolm X, Woody Carmichael in Crooklyn, David Castlebck in Gone in 60 seconds, Adrian Coleman in The Good Fight, and Bass Reeves in The Harder They Fall. He is set to appear in Blade (2023).
Born in Lewisham, south-east London, he grew up in nearby Ethan where he attended Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys. Most notably, he became interested in acting as a child when he appeared in a nativity play at school. As a teenager, he moved to Toronto with his mother, and when he turned 16, they moved to San Francisco.
At 24, he began his studies in acting at the American Conservatory Theatre. His film debut came in 1976 with the film Find the Lady. This followed two other roles in films, including an army sergeant in More American Graffiti. He guest starred on The Simpsons in the episode “Brawl in the Family” playing Gabriel.
In 2007, he began an association with Berkeley Repertory Theatre, where he directed the play The Blur Door. He was also in the main cast of The Chicago Code and the ABC soap Blood & Oil in 2011. In 2017, he began playing Adrian Boseman in The Good Fight, and recently in 2021, he was cast as Bass Reeves in The Harder They Fall.
