Tony Cox (born Joseph Anthony Cox) is an American actor famous for roles in Bad Santa, Friday, Me, Myself & Irene, Date Movie, and Leprechaun 2. He has also appeared in various music videos and his height is also one of the features that make him famous. Cox is also known for his role in George Lucas’s Willow, as an Ewok in Return of the Jedi, and as The Prescher in Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice.
Born in Uniontown, Alabama, Cox became an avid drummer by the age of 10. He also met his future wife, Otelia, during high school and got married in 1981 when he was 23 years old. After he finished high school, he attended Alabama State University where he originally planned to study music. Although he couldn’t read music, he had played against some of the drummers from the school bur were no match for him.
Later on, he decided to pursue acting after watching Billy Barty. Billy was a little person who was an actor and also the founder of the organization Little People of America. Cox moved to Los Angeles at age 18 after encouragement from family and friends. He started taking classes at the Merrick Studio School of Acting and soon began working in commercials. He is well known for roles like Bad Santa where he played Marcus, among other famous roles.
