Evelyn Taft Biography
Evelyn Taft is an American meteorologist, journalist, director, and news editor who works as a meteorologist on weekdays between 8:00 and 10:00 p.m. for KCAL 9 Los Angeles, a CBS 2 station. She formerly worked as an anchor for KRON 4 in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she hosted a seven-hour morning show.
Taft is a Bay Area native who lived in Los Angeles while attending the University of Southern California‘s Annenberg School of Journalism. In 2016, she graduated from the institution with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism and political science. She forecasted the weather for Annenberg’s live newscast at the campus. She is also a National National Weather Association member and has been awarded the National Weather Association Seal of Approval.
Evelyn’s interest in weather expanded even further after graduation when she got a certificate in meteorology from Mississippi State University and went to work for KCOY, the CBS affiliate on the central coast, where she worked as a weather anchor, and news anchor, and reporter. She spent a lot of time reporting from the front lines of various wildfires in Santa Barbara County when she was there. Taft also worked as a weather forecaster for CBS station KION in Salinas.
She was always interested in international culture and travel as a child. Taft began working at the Mid-Peninsula Community Media Center in the Bay Area when she was in her teens, hosting various travel and entertainment shows. Taft has also lived both in London and France, spent a significant amount of time in Israel, and traveled through Europe, Asia, and Central and South America, where she managed to climb Machu Picchu.
During her free time, she enjoys sailing, eating from LA’s gourmet food trucks, reading, and spending time with her family and pug.
