Gabriel Chavarria Biography
Gabriel Chavarria is a renowned American actor, best known for his appearance as ‘Jacob Aguilar’ in East Los High and ‘Miguel Guerrero’ in The Purge. In addition, he was cast in the 2017 movie War for the Planet of the Apes.
Chavarria attended John Marshall High School, Los Angeles. He was quite young when he started acting. However, he had never thought of acting because he was so much into football. In fact, he spent much of his time polishing his football skills instead. When he was 13 years old, Gabriel was even selected for international tournaments and an Olympic Development Program.
He has been a reserve member for a Honduran soccer team for quite some time. At some point, he even got an opportunity to play in international tournaments across Spain, England, and the United States of America.
When Gabriel got through the audition for his debut project, Freedom Writers, he developed some love for the studio. This was indeed the turning point in his life. Within no time, Chavarria got various roles on TV shows and in films of various genres.
As an actor, Chavarria made his career debut in 2007 when he played the character ‘Tito’ in the drama film ‘Freedom Writers’, adapted from a compiled book by Erin Gruwell and his students.

Later in 2011, he was cast as Ramon in the drama movie ‘A Better Life’ based on Academy-winning screenwriter Roger L. Simon. Then came his breakthrough through his appearance as Jacob Aguilar, a football star, in the 2013-released ‘Hulu’ series ‘East Los High’.
Growing his career, Gabriel was cast as ‘Daniel “Danny” Alvarez,’ a skilled but troubled graffiti artist, in the 2016 drama film ‘Lowriders.’ His performance in the movie earned him an Imagen Award for the Best Actor.
In 2017, Chavarria played ‘Preacher’ in the science-fiction film, War for the Plante of Apes. The following year, he played Miguel Guerrero, a US Marine in the horror anthology ‘The Purge’.
Most recently, he has been seen in the Netflix series based on the life of Mexican-American pop singer Selena Quintanilla, who was murdered by her manager. In the film Selena: The Series, Gabriel plays A.B. Quintanilla, Selena’s brother, bass player, and songwriter/producer.
