Jeff Ranieri Biography
Jeff Ranieri is an American Meteorologist who is currently working as the Chief Meteorologist for NBC O&O station KNTV in San Jose, California. Prior to this, he reported for NBC NEWS on Early Today, and MSNBC on weekday mornings & afternoons.
In addition, he was an NBC Weather Plus Meteorologist for Weekend Today Saturday. During weather events, he frequently reported for Nightly News and the Today Show. Before he joined his current station in 2004, he was a forecaster at KCRA in Sacramento, California.
Earlier in his career, he forecasted in Oregon and Florida. Throughout his career, he has reported major stories. Some of his reporting include the landfall of Hurricane Katerina from Biloxi, Mississippi, Severe Midwest flooding in 2007, the Super Tuesday tornado outbreak in 2008, and the historic New England ice storm in December 2008. In addition, he covered the Winter Olympic Games in Turin, Italy in 2006 and the Summer Games in Beijing, China.
After NBC Weather Plus dissolved it acquired the Weather Channel, which merged with the new brand while remaining a meteorologist with NBC NEWS in New York. On May 22, 2009, TVNewser reported that he left NBC NEWS to Join NBC O&O KNTV in the San Francisco Bay Area. He currently serves as Chief Meteorologist and will be at various places around SF Bay with live weather, features & interviews. He holds the American Meteorological Society television seal of approval.
