Mikael Persbrandt Biography
Mikael Persbrandt is a Swedish actor famous for playing Gunvald Larsson in the Beck series of movies. He however best known for his starring in the Academy Award-winning feature, In a Better World. His performance even earned him a 2011 European Film Award nomination for Best Actor. Some of his other famous roles include Carl Hamilton in The Hobbit and Jakob Nyam in Sex Education.
Born in Sweden, he has baptized in the Finnish Church in Gamla stan. He stated that he has ancestry from Aland on his mother’s side, and he thinks his parental ancestors were Walloons. Mikael has performed onstage with the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm and in numerous film and TV roles.
He is well known for his role as the hardboiled police inspector Guvald Larsson, in the Beck series. This was followed by roles in Everlasting Moments and Nobody Owns Me for which he won the Guldbagge Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role.
Later in 2015, he reported that he would quit starring in his popular role Gunvald Larsson, and in 2019 he began playing Jackob Nyman in Sex Education. Furthermore, he is the leading character in The Salvation.
