Liz Claman Biography
Liz Claman is an American journalist currently working as a news anchor for the Fox Business Network show Countdown to the Closing Bell. She was previously the co-anchor of the CNBC morning television program Morning Call. Prior to that, she co-hosted Wake Up Call and Market Watch and was the main of the CNBC newsmagazine program Cover to Cover.
Claman temporarily worked on a rotational basis along with other anchors as a substitute for The News with Brian Williams before Brian left MSNBC for NBC in 2014.
Liz is a graduate of the University of California Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts degree in the French language. She is also a holder of Certificat Supérieur de Français from the University of Paris. She attended Philips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts where she was the school’s station, WPAA disk jockey, and then joined Beverly Hills High School.
Claman started her television career as a production assistant for Ann Curry, Paula Zahn, and Jim Lampley at KCBS-TV in Los Angeles, California. Her first on-air reporting job was at WSYX-TV in Columbus, Ohio. She then followed up with a role as a co-host of a morning talk show, Morning Exchange at WEWS-TV in Cleveland, Ohio between 1991 and 1994. Later on, she worked as a weekend anchor at WHDH-TV in Boston, Massachusetts.
During her television career, Claman became the youngest producer in the history of KCBS to win an Emmy Award. Moreover, she won an Emmy for Best Morning Anchor at WEWS, Cleveland. In April 1998, Liz started her career as a freelancer, based in Fort Lee, New Jersey, and later in neighboring Edgewater.
