Mustafa Shakir is an American actor who rose to fame for playing the role of John the Bushmaster in Marvel’s TV show called Luke Cage. He also gained national recognition and fame for playing Big Mike’s role in The Deuce and Jet Black in Cowboy Bebop since 2021. Shakir’s other famous roles are in Shaft (2000), Down to Earth (2001), The Cavern (2005) and Mighty Med. He even audition for a role on the eponymous TV show, Black Lightning but he failed to acquire the role back in 2018. He even auditioned for a role in the first Blank Panther movie but he was not succesful.
Shakir was born in North Carolina but he grew up in Harlem New York City. He finished his middle school in Harlem. Shakir then attended and graduated from The New School class of 2001. However, it is not known whether Shakir furthered his studies in college or not.
Mustafa first began his career as a barber back in the early 2000s before moving to Los Angeles, California. He then made his acting debut in a popular short-lived film called Quarry. Shakir then made an appearance on a famous TV series called Timeless. He landed his major breakthrough role in a Marvel Tv series called Luke Cage.
