Phil Ferro Biography
Phil Ferro is an American Meteorologist who is currently working as a chief meteorologist and is responsible for providing the latest weather information from watches and warnings to the local forecast at WSVN FOX 7. He anchors weather forecasts on weeknights during 7 News from 4 to 11 pm. He joined 7News in 2005.
In addition, he leads a four-person team that monitors the skies of South Florida 24 hours a day. He stays up to date on the latest developments in the meteorological field by regularly attending seminars, and hurricane conferences, among others. Most notably, he took part in a historic mission that flew into a hurricane while traveling back across the Caribbean in 1999.
Ferro has completed FEMA training on community hurricane preparedness and is constantly taking NOAA classes to keep his forecasting skills sharp. He is a member of the AMS commission of Professional Affairs standing plane of Spanish-language evaluators of the Board of Broadcast Meteorology. Throughout his career, he has received many awards and nominations. Most notably, his work has been recognized by the South Florida chapter of the Association for Women in Communications, and the Miami-Dade County League of Cities, among others.
