Philip Rucker Biography

Philip Rucker is an American journalist and author who has been working as the White House Bureau Chief at The Washington Post since 2005. He is a 2002 graduate of St. Andrew’s School in Savannah, Georgia. While there, he was a valedictorian.

The school gave him its Distinguished Alumni Award in 2017. Later on, he furthered his education at Yale University and received a history degree in 2006. While at this university, he worked for the Yale Daily News as a reporter and editor.

Following his career, he was promoted to White House bureau chief in 2014. Rucker covered the entire Trump administration for the Post, as well as Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign.
