Rachel Scott Biography
Rachel Scott is an American journalist who is currently working as a congressional correspondent, reporting from Capitol Hill across all ABC News programs and platforms. These platforms include; Good Morning America, World News Tonight with David Muir, Nightline, 20/20, This Week with George Stephanopoulos, ABC News Live, ABC News.com, and ABC Audio.
A native of Southern Carolina, she graduated from the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California.
Most notably, she got her career start at ABC News as a production associate for ABC News Live in 2017. While working full-time as a producer for GMA Digital, Scott took on an additional role as a Weekend General Assignment Reporter for ABC’s New Haven. CT affiliate WTNH-TV.
Most recently, she has reported from Georgia on the historic Senate runoff elections between Sen. Jon Ossoff and former and former Sen. David Perdue, along with Sen. Rhapael Warnock and Sen. Kelly Loeffler.
Scott also covered the unprecedented insurrection on Capitol Hill in Washington in early January 2021. In addition, she reported on the disparity in some law enforcement responses to the mob at the Capitol compared to the notably more violent reactions to the Black Lives Matter protests in the summer of 2020.
Prior to this, Scott was a White House correspondent and D.C. correspondent. In 2020, she provided extensive on-ground coverage of the nationwide protests over police brutality and the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on communities of color.
She interviewed Senator Bernie Sanders and surrogate Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for a joint network exclusive sit down in Iowa. Additionally, this award-winning journalist has also covered the 2018 midterms, Hurricane Irma.
