Robin Baumgarten is a three-time Emmy American winner who currently co-anchors the WGN Morning News from 6-10 am. She joined the show back in 1996 as an airborne traffic reporter and transportation reporter. Previously, she worked as a reporter in Chicago at Shadow Broadcast Services.
Baumgarten was born and raised in South suburban Burbank, Illinois, the United States of America. She graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is a proud Illini alumna where she earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism.
Baumgarten has won the Emmy award three times. Currently, she co-anchors the WGN Morning News from 6-10 am. She joined the show back in 1996 as an airborne traffic reporter and transportation reporter.
In 2004, when WGN Morning News expanded to 4 hours, Baumgarten became the solo anchor of the 5 am show. In the same year, she became the main anchor of WGN Morning News, from 5:30 am to 9 am. In addition to anchoring, Baumgarten enjoys reporting on stories unique to Chicago and the South Side.
Before joining WGN-TV, she worked at shadow Broadcast Services in Chicago. At that time, Baumgarten served as a news, traffic, and sports reporter for WLUP Radio’s Jonathon Brandmeier Show. Besides, Baumgarten also worked as a traffic reporter for CLTV News. She spent one year as a freelancer with ABC Sports.
