Sam Brock Biography
Sam Brock is a famous American journalist working for NBC 5, a Chicago-based channel as a news correspondent since September 2012. He reports for NBC Bay Area’s evening news broadcasts and on the station’s digital platforms. Prior to joining NBC News, Sam worked for NBC Bay Area first as a reporter and analyst and later as a morning news anchor. Eventually, Brock served as aSan Francisco Reporter.
Since joining NBC Bay Area, Brock has won an Emmy award for his coverage of the Ghost Ship warehouse fire in Oakland. Recently, Sam covered the Kate Steinle Murder trial from start to finish, the death of San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee, and the devastating Wine Country fires. Furthermore, he reports on general assignment news with a focus on San Francisco politics and government issues.
Sam was born and raised in Westchester County, New York. However, he later developed a deep connection to his current residence, the Bay Area. He joined Northwestern University in Evanston, IL later graduating with a Bachelor’s degree with a major in English. Moreover, he proceeded to earn a master of science in journalism (MSJ) from Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism.
He began his broadcast career at TV-3 in Winchester, VA, nestled in the Shenandoah Valley region in Virginia. Before joining NBC Bay Area, Sam worked as a 5 P.M anchor and political reporter for WTVR in Richmond, Virginia. During his four-year stay over there, he covered wide topics such as gun policy, women’s rights issues, and a series of stories investigating Virginia’s care for its intellectually disabled residents.
