Shawnette Wilson is an American journalist who is working as a general assignment reporter and anchor at FOX29 in Philadelphia. She joined the station in January 2007 as a general assignment reporter and is currently seen on Monday through Friday reporting for the 10 and 11 pm news. Wilson comes to Philadelphia from the CBS station WBTV/WJZY in Charlotte, North Carolina.
While in Charlotte, she anchored the 10 o’clock weeknight news and reported for the station’s 11 pm newscast. Prior to that, she worked as a reporter and then anchor of 6, 10, and 11 pm news at the ABC station WJCL in Savannah, Georgia. She also worked as an anchor and reporter for local cable news station PV3 in Westminster, Maryland.
Wilson received Emmy nominations from The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for two long-format enterprise stories. She is proud of producing long-format stories, like her series on the heroin epidemic affecting young people and pregnant women.
A graduate of Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus, Wilson is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Soroity Inc. She is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists. Despite her journalism duties, she loves working with young children and mentoring teens.
