Stephen Fanuka Biography
Stephen Fanuka is an American TV personality known for Live with Kelly and Ryan (1988), and Morning America (1975). Fanuka is also the host of DIY Network’s ‘Million Dollar Contractor in October (2011) and in April (2012) moved to HGTV where M$C will debut its second season.’
He learned the art of Cabinetmaking at an early age and the ins and outs of the trade from his old-school European tradition. He joined forces with his father to create Fanuka Custom Cabinets and grew it into the firm it is today, Fanuka Inc.
Stephen has worked side by side with his dad throughout high school and college. After graduating from St. John’s University, he did a brief stint in advertising at Young and Rubican. In 1991, he worked his way toward his contracting license to achieve his goal of expanding the business. And in 1994, he obtained his General Contractor’s license which offered his first contracting job.
Today, Fanuka Inc. works with top designers and architects like Francois Catroux, Eric Cohler, Thom Filicia, and many others. He is also a contributor to the New York Times Magazine’s ‘Key’ section and has been featured in numerous shelter publications and national newspapers as well as on The Nate Berkus Show and LX-TV’s ‘Open House New York and ‘George to the Rescue.
Fanuka also has a leading role as the residential contractor for Bethenny Frankel’s new downtown digs on her Bravo series ‘Bethany Ever After’ which premiered in January 2012. He is also an author whose book is co-written with Ed Lewine titled ‘What’s A Homeowner to Do?’ and ‘ 442 Things You Should Know which was published by Artisan Books in November and is available on Amazon.com.
