Venton Blandin Biography
Venton Blandin is an American Award-winning journalist who is currently working as an anchor and reporter at ABC15 since joining the station in November 2021. In addition, he has more than 30 years of news experience, as well as experience working with the U.S Department of Justice.
Prior to working as a DOJ, he spent more than 3 years reporting at KMOV-TV in St. Louis, Missouri. He became interested in television news after watching stations in his hometown of Chicago cover shooting in his Garfield Park neighborhood. His passion grew when he moved to Greenville, South Carolina in 1993.
In Greenville, he worked behind the scenes at WYFF-TV. Later on, he joined the United States Marine Corps in 1998 and receives an honorable discharge as a Corporal. For his college education, he attended Bowie State University in Bowie, Maryland. Following his graduation, he worked as a production assistant and weekend assignment editor at WRC-TV in Washington from 1999-2002. He also worked as an assignment editor, in Baltimore, MD, at WBAL-TV from 2002-2004.

After leaving WBAL-TV he worked at WCAV-TV in Charlottesville, Virginia, where he worked as a reporter. However, he left the station in 2007 for a position at WCIV-TV in Charleston, South Carolina. He later moved to Huntsville, Alabama in December 2008 to report for WHNT-TV where he stayed for six years and left the station in June 2014.
In addition to countless local reports, he covered the deadly 2015 Emanuel A.M.E. Church shooting in Charleston. He also covered Hurricane Joquin in 2015, Hurricane Matthew in 2016, St. Louis prospects in 2017, and the Branson Duck Boat Tragedy in 2018. Throughout his career, he has received several awards and nominations. He received two Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, four Emmy nominations, and several awards from the Associated Press.
