Victor Blackwell is an American broadcast journalist currently known for working as a news anchor and reporter for CNN Newsroom alongside Alisyn Camerota on CNN News. He joined CNN after spending close to two years working as a field reporter for WTLV News in Jacksonville Florida. Blackwell’s first role on CNN was working as a correspondent based in the southeast bureau of CNN News. Therefore, his hardwork earned him his current position as a co-anchor on CNN Newsroom in 2021. Blackwell and his colleague have been known for delivering the latest news updates about the Black Lives Matter movement, political updates and other general news updates on CNN Newsroom. However, Blackwell was moved to anchoring CNN’s weekend news in Atlanta as his new role alongside Alisyn Camerota.
Blackwell was born and brought up in Baltimore, Maryland by an African-American family. Growing up, Victor was described as a very active child who loved playing sports and watching the evening news after school. He also enjoyed reading and doing investigative work that boosted his passion for journalism. Victor finished his high school education at Milford Mill Academy back in 1999. Eventually, Blackwell decided to join the CNN News team as a Southeast Bureau correspondent. His most prominent newscasts at this time include covering the mysterious death of a Georgia teenager and the investigations that were launched by the Office of the Secretary of State of Georgia and many more.
In 2021, Victor landed his role as a co-host on CNN Newsroom as a promotion. His CNN news show was well-received and loved until he was given a new role in 2023. Blackwell now appears as a news anchor and reporter for CNN weekend news in Atlanta since March 2023.
