Windsor Johnston is an American journalist currently working as a news anchor and reporter for NPR since 2011. Johnston writes, produces, and delivers hourly national newscasts. In addition, she occasionally reports breaking news stories for NPR’s Newsdesk. Prior to joining NPR, Johnston served as a freelance reporter in Kenya.
Apart from covering news, Windsor is an adjunct journalism professor at American University. She also taught as an adjunct journalism professor at Temple University her former school between 2004 and 2012.
She brings over 20 years of experience, as an anchor as well as a reporter at different news stations including NPR member stations. Between 1995 and 2011, Windsor worked as a weekend edition host and also as a reporter at WHYY.
