Jack Graham Biography

Jack Graham is an American pastor well known for his Prestonwood Baptist Church, one of the nation’s largest, most dynamic congregations. Graham is also recognized for being a member of President Donald Trump’s Religious Advisory Council.

He is a renowned author of numerous books, including Man of God, Unseen, and a new book, Angels: Who They Are, What They Do, and Why It Matters, which will be published soon.

His passionate, biblical teaching is also broadcast across the country and throughout the world on PowerPoint Ministries.

He steadily got into Christian ministry which continued during his formative years in Fort Worth, Texas. In 1970, he was ordained pastor at the age of twenty. He got a Bachelor of Science degree at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene.

By 1976, Jack also completed work for a Master of Divinity degree with honors from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. Four years down the line, Graham received a Doctor of Ministry degree in “Church and Proclamation.”

After his ordination as pastor of his first church in 1970, Jack started his pastor’s life by serving as an associate pastor of Sagamore Hill Baptist Church.

He started his ministry in Cross Plains in Callahan County, Texas as the pastor of East Side Baptist from 1970 to 1971. Graham later went for the associate pastorate at Sagamore Hill Baptist Church for three years from 1972 to 1975.

He then started preaching in Hobart, Oklahoma at First Baptist Church (1975–1978). Later, Jack served First Baptist Church in Duncan, Oklahoma for three years until 1981. Between 1981 and 1989, he served the First Baptist Church located in West Palm Beach, Florida.

In 1989, Graham was called a pastor by Prestonwood Baptist Church 1989 which had a membership of over 11,000. The reason behind his appointment to the church was his resignation following the extra-marital affair of its founding pastor, Bill Weber.

The church started increasing its congregation rapidly which made them construct a new 7,500-seat worship facility and ministry complex on 140 acres in west Plano.

In 2006, Prestonwood had its second branch in Prosper, near U.S. Highway 380 and Dallas Parkway. In the same year, the church also constructed a new children’s wing and updated its facilities for PowerPoint Ministries, including an upgrade to High Definition (HDTV).

By 2018, the church had a membership of over 43,000 and the regular attendance was 17,000 on average. Graham has also served the 2015 National Day of Prayer as Honorary Chairman. He also participated in the National Prayer Service which was held at the Washington National Cathedral.
